Description:
This collection of Shetland reels was originally arranged by Jan Steele, a founder member of the saxophone ensemble, Saxtet. He transcribed them from a guitar performance, although traditionally they would have been played on the fiddle.
The original saxophone quartet version was regularly used by Saxtet as a rousing concert-closer and encore, requiring massive amounts of stamina and plenty of self-control to avoid getting carried away too quickly!
This version was specially arranged by Nigel Wood for the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain, but features a range of mixed ability level parts to suit all types of saxophone ensemble.
